Barcelona – One of the world’s greatest artists in the 20th century is Salvador Dali. He was born in Figueres, a town close to the French border, north of Catalunya, Spain. This statue is displayed in the town of Cadaques, where he frequented during his youthful summers. Dali was a famous surrealist and a Dada supporter. His works include: La persistencia de la memoria (The persistence of memory) which I saw in the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA in New York); Un chien andalou (The Andalucian dog with Luis Buñuel) which I always use for film classes; and the short-animated film, Destino (with Walt Disney).
