The city of statues

by Evans Yonson

Taken in Rome, Italy, December 2004.

Barcelona – Why are there so many religious statues as there are many buildings in Rome? The city is littered with thousands of statues. Some are low but most of them are so high that could be compared to the skyscrapers of New York City. I found this Virgin statue near the Piazza  Espagna in Rome during my Christmas 2004 vacation.

Italy was only my third European country to visit and there will be more statues waiting for me to be seen and photographed. Indeed, there are more.
